At last…. An accurate working 4mm scale station lamp

 

(created by DCCconcepts based on original drawings. Available in several regional station colour schemes)

 

 

 

 

We’ve wanted to do this for a long time: Create a finely scaled 4mm scale station lamp with adjustable lamp brightness and in a style that would be appropriate for many, many UK stations. Well at last its on the way, however its ended up as far more than we originally conceived…

Text Box: When we looked closely at the many. many works drawings we had, we realised that one lamp wouldn’t ever be enough, so we’ve created TWO of them… The classic “Midland style” gas lamp, and its companion Oil fired Yard lamp, so your station scenes can now be truly complete. Height varied a lot too…. So we needed the extension base! When lamps are used beside footbridges and in yards as well as on platforms, height varies a lot, so we thought we might as well add the cast iron base extension that the real railways used to raise their lamps for any reason.   

   Text Box: We thought about the wide historical time-span these lamps have lived through… many are still in use everywhere! So… aware that modellers are as likely to model any period between the start of the 20th century and today, we added a final touch we hope you will like… Just by turning a small potentiometer on the PCB we supply with every lamp you can vary it from a the realistic soft glow of an oil or gas light to the brighter light a modern electrically powered lamp… but you can NEVER over power it. Because we have limited its voltage output to a safe level! And because we know you really hate worrying about electrics and will want to power it with any old power supply you may have lying around, ...from a mobile phone charger to an old DC trainset controller, EVERY lamp has its own individual control PCB, and that PCB is happy to accept AC, DC or DCC…. So you don’t have to worry about it!

Oh… and by the way: This style of lamp was found in many places, so we’ve made them available in Midland Red, GWR light & dark stone, Eastern green, Southern Green and BR Green plus Cream and Maroon… as well as unpainted for those who want to do it their own way!

A higher quality 21 pin to 8 pin DCC decoder adapter

So far, these important and useful adapters have only ever been available from the train making brands and they have unfortunately been at silly prices as a result.

Many modellers have their favourite brands and neither these nor most affordable decoders are available with a 21 pin configuration… so we think that availability of this adapter is very important

Whilst the 21 pin socket is far more expensive than it looks and they are certainly more expensive to make than we expected (they have to be 100% hand assembled and soldered due to the nature of the connectors) we have still managed to keep the price to well below that of previous suppliers!
