OUR approach to enjoying this task, which many find both frustrating and a chore!

We build locomotive from scratch and kits, and often re-work both ready to run locomotives and rolling stock. We enjoy the process at all levels, but the greatest satisfaction is always achieved in completing the very last step....

You see...no matter how much effort you put into the physical creation, It is the painting and finishing of the model that is its real “birth”.

Rather than approach the painting and weathering of these projects with trepidation we look forward to it, as it’s this step that takes a painstakingly constructed model and turns it from a collection of connected parts into a truly believable “model of a locomotive” or similar for the first time!

There are other approaches to these skills and none are right or wrong!

We claim no special skill other than a determination to as well as we can… and we make no special claims for this advice other than it WORKS.

We are proud that using the techniques below has resulted in a series of finished models that have consistently won both best in show and best in class in almost every competition in which they have been entered….

Use them with our blessing, and judge them in your own way. While you are welcome to adopt them, each of you should take them as a guide, evolving them as part of your own preferred way of doing things.
