——————————————————————————————————— DCCconcepts Own “Sapphire Solder” Range Sapphire 179 is perfect for all electronics and is great anywhere where flow is important - we use it on some brass kit work, soldering rail, constructing turnouts and more - Sapphire 179 will also easily solder pewter, many cast metals, stainless steel and spring wire... it’s a truly versatile product! Sapphire 145 is a “detail” solder for the finer parts of kit building and detailing - exceptional flow and good strength, it has no tendency to “wick so makes a joint that is virtually invisible as if used sparingly, there is simply no “cusp” where parts meet. Sapphire 100 is a new addition to the range: It replaces traditional 70 degree whitemetal solders with a solder that will also stick to brass—meaning that you will no longer need to tin for addition of small cosmetic detail parts. Please note however that where joints are long seams or may be under high stress, we DO still pre-tin brass with a very fine layer of Sapphire 179 to promote exceptional flow between parts.

CARRS FLUXES Carrs fluxes have deservedly enjoyed an excellent reputation in our hobby for many years. The already wide Carrs range has recently been expanded to include both no-clean and low clean varieties. Modellers all over the world know and trust this long standing high quality range.
Carrs ORANGE: A “No Clean” resin based flux for anywhere that post solder cleanup is not practical.
Carrs YELLOW: Carrs yellow is an “easy clean” flux that works really well with whitemetal, brass, nickel silver and most copper based alloy, including bronze and pewter. Clean after soldering to prevent staining.
Carrs GREEN: The Classic Carrs acid based flux, used by modellers for steel, brass and nickel silver for a generation. As it is acid based, it requires neutralizing with an alkaline solution. Rinse well after neutralizing.
Carrs RED: An organic flux compound, very active at low temperature. Ideal for whitemetal & very good for other nonferrous metals. Breaks down to leave non-corrosive residues. Rinse after soldering.
Carrs BLACK: An aggressive flux for steel and spring steel. Use with care, treat with respect, neutralize well after soldering.
Carrs BROWN for stainless steel: Important note about this specialised flux: Carrs brown flux is a very aggressive acid flux and should be used with respect and care. Achieving a good result with “hard to solder” materials requires care & special techniques. Please read the full notes on Carrs website or ask us to post or email to you information about this. Always clean up properly and wash hands after use.
Carrs GREY for Aluminium Important note about this specialised flux: Grey flux is aggressive and should be used with respect and care. Achieving a good result with “hard to solder” materials requires care & special techniques. Please read the full notes on Carrs website or ask us to post or email to you information about this. Always clean up properly and wash hands after use.
