Some general information about NANOlights

· NANOlights singles: - Ultra-tiny prewired LEDs.

Super tiny LEDs pre-wired to the finest possible enameled wire to make it possible to do things with light never before possible.

NANOlights are so small two of them will fit into a 1mm hole and can be dulled right down for subtle uses… yet they can also be made bright enough for headlights if you wish!

* NANOlight 4 LED vehicle Harnesses:

NANOlights pre-wired into several sizes of harness to make it easy to do realistic installations into cars and road vehicles in ANY scale, ...or even perhaps for use in some locomotives.

* NANOlight 2 LED Loco Lighting Harnesses:

Prewired for easy installation into locomotives in almost any scale and adaptable for many other uses. Our 2 LED harnesses are sold in 1-colour packs AND in “Loco packs” with enough red and white LED harnesses to do a full complement of marker lights in two colours on the average loco, EMU or DMU

A little info ABOUT our Prewired NANOlights

Since we released our surface mount prototype white LEDs they have always been hugely popular, but many who purchase them with good intentions find that their soldering skills are to say the least challenged by their tiny size…. And many who of those can solder them simply lose too many of because they are so small.

Mindful that scale lighting shouldn't need to be a stressful task and that modellers who want scale lighting should not be just left to their own devices, we investigated the possibility of pre-wiring them for you.

However…. While looking to improve things, we found something very, very exciting… and even better!

An ultra-micro sized version of the Surface mount LED that was in fact an incredibly small - Smaller in fact than our already tiny 0603!

It has not been easy to arrange for these to be prewired for you as each is hand soldered and even with the best skills and technique, the in-production loss rate is high, however we have at last succeeded and we are very proud to be able to introduce our all new NANOlights!

HOW SMALL ARE THEY?

VERY: These images tell the story…

To give you a sense of their size, the wire we used for these images is in fact standard decoder wire, and the Micrometer images are reading the two main dimensions… or nearly, as the added bulk of the solder on the wire is increasing the dimension!

These really are very, very tiny!

To put their size in perspective, even the dual element 2 colour red/white LED will make a snug fit into a hole only 1mm diameter!

HOW HEAVY WILL THE WIRE BE?

Very Fine indeed… For the production NANOLights, we have used a fine lacquer / acrylic enamel insulated copper wire that is 0.125mm (3.2 thou) thick including insulation…

This ultra fine wire makes installation a breeze, as it is so fine that in many cases, it can be in full view, and if painted, will be invisible!

HOW DO I DETERMINE NANOlight POLARITY?

This is almost impossible with the naked eye so we have done our best to make it easy for you (and us). We have used two different wire lengths so it will be easy for you to tell which is the positive lead...Its the LONGER one!

On all NANOlights, the negative wire is 120mm long, the positive is 150mm long.

WHAT COLOURS ARE AVAILABLE?

We will make five colour choices available for you… They are individually:

· Prototype/Warm white (slightly warm tint). This tint is suitable for all incandescent or similar lighting, and is less strong than the previous Prototype white LED tint. If you like more tint, it can be done by adding a little clear varnish tinted with either paint, concentrated fabric dye or Inkjet printer ink

· Pure/Sunny White (un-tinted pure white, no blue/no warmth). This tint is most suitable for modern vehicles and trains.

· A very accurate “signal red”. A perfect match to the international standard for red lamps used for safety or warning indication

· Amber. Matches real world standards for safety use, such as door indicator lights on passenger stock and signals—makes a great working car indicator too!

· Plus an ultra small dual colour Red + warm White with fully independent wiring to make separate switching of red and white easy under all circumstances.

HOW WILL THEY BE PACKED?

Single NANOlights will be in packs of SIX. They will be packaged compete with resistors. We will not supply them in singles, bulk or loose normally as it is important that these items are well packed to be sure they get to you in one piece.

We MAY however consider requests for bulk purchases of 100 units or more per colour

Harnesses are generally in packs of three, and are also supplied with resistors (the 4 light harnesses for motor vehicles already have a well balanced set of resistors added to keep the red and white in harmony for a motor vehicle installation, so all you need to do it connect it to DC power!

WILL THEY BE RELIABLE?

YES - we wouldn't sell them otherwise.

If used with a resistor value appropriate for the LED they will last almost forever… and we always do a 100% test on all wired LEDs prior to packing to be sure they worked when they left us.

However we do advise you to treat them with care and respect the fact that they are a tiny sub-micro sized device that will not handle rough treatment well.

The 2 and 4 light harnesses are of course quite delicate as the LEDs are so small, so please do be careful when installing them!
